Terms of Use and Service
Last updated: 26/04/2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to Ricerium ("we", "us" or "our"). By accessing or using our website and services (collectively, the "Services"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and Service ("Terms"). If you do not accept these Terms, please do not use the Services. Ricerium is a platform operated by SceneSnap S.r.l.
2. Services Provided
Ricerium provides an AI-powered academic research platform that enables users to explore scientific literature, manage a personal library of documents, and generate structured summaries and knowledge bases from their own materials. The platform includes search tools across academic databases (OpenAlex, arXiv, CrossRef), PDF management, indexed wiki generation, and conversational interaction with a research agent.
All generated outputs — including summaries, syntheses, notes and other materials — are AI-assisted and should be used as research support tools, not as substitutes for original source materials or verified professional advice.
2.1 User Responsibilities When Using AI Features
Users agree to use Ricerium's AI features solely for lawful, academic, and professional development purposes. Any misuse — such as attempting to generate content to plagiarise, impersonate others, or create inappropriate, discriminatory, or unlawful material — is strictly prohibited.
2.2 Intellectual Property in Outputs
All AI-generated outputs from Ricerium remain the intellectual property of SceneSnap S.r.l. Users are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable licence to use such content solely for personal, non-commercial research purposes.
3. Use of Content
User-Provided Materials
Users may upload or link materials to Ricerium, including but not limited to PDFs, documents, presentations, and texts. Users are solely responsible for holding the necessary rights, licences, and permissions to upload or process such materials. Ricerium does not claim ownership of original materials provided by users.
Copyright and Fair Use
Ricerium processes and transforms user-provided content solely for academic and transformative purposes, consistent with fair use and educational exceptions under applicable copyright law. Users agree to use the platform in a manner that respects intellectual property rights.
3.1 Takedown Requests and Copyright Complaints
If you believe any content available through the Services infringes your copyright, you may request its removal by sending a notice to support@scenesnap.co including: identification of the protected work, description of the allegedly infringing content, your contact details, and a good-faith statement that the use is not authorised.
4. User Responsibilities
Account Creation: Users must provide accurate, complete, and up-to-date information and are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their credentials. All activity carried out through an account is the user's sole responsibility.
Prohibited Conduct: It is forbidden to upload materials without the necessary rights, use Ricerium to plagiarise or impersonate others, attempt to reverse-engineer the platform, present AI-generated content as one's own academic work, or use the service for unlawful or unethical purposes.
5. Intellectual Property
All intellectual property rights in the Ricerium platform — including software, algorithms, design, and all proprietary elements — belong to SceneSnap S.r.l. Users are granted a limited, non-exclusive, and revocable licence to access the Services solely for research and non-commercial purposes. Users retain ownership of all materials they upload.
6. Limitation of Liability
SceneSnap S.r.l. shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use the Services. AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies; Ricerium provides it "as is". SceneSnap S.r.l.'s total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by the user in the twelve months preceding the claim.
7. Privacy
The processing of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of these Terms.
8. Subscriptions, Payments and Refunds
Certain features may require payment. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing cycle unless cancelled before renewal. Payments are non-refundable except as required by applicable consumer protection law. Users may cancel at any time from their account settings.
9. Suspension and Termination
SceneSnap S.r.l. reserves the right to suspend or close accounts in the event of a breach of these Terms, fraudulent activity, or security risks. Users may close their account at any time by contacting support@scenesnap.co.
10. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Updates will be published on the website. Continued use of the Services after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by Italian law. Any disputes arising from or related to these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Milan (Italy).
